Highlights of the update

This release brings major improvements to logging, with 17 new system logs introduced. These logs give system administrators a clearer, more comprehensive view of the system’s status and internal processes. Some are triggered by configuration changes, others at startup, and a few—like mute alerts—are tied to email notifications. For example, you’ll now know immediately when the system enters standby mode.

Video recording has also been significantly improved. Previously, recordings were limited to a hardcoded duration. Now, it’s possible to record videos as long as needed, though we still recommend keeping them short—no longer than a couple of minutes—for ease of downloading and sharing. This change is particularly useful in high-load scenarios where multiple cameras are running at full capacity.

Event Video Buffers

Since the beginning, VIS has included a few seconds of footage before and after each event to provide important context. This approach allows users to see what led up to an incident, which wouldn’t be possible if recording started only after detection. VIS achieves this by continuously holding fresh frames in memory. With V26, this feature becomes configurable—you can now adjust how much pre- and post-event footage to include using the Configuration Manager introduced in V25.

Additional refinements include version information now shown in the video log details, making it easier to trace which VIS version captured a specific event.
