VIS Version 26 SP1 Released: Enhanced Privacy Blurring and Targeted Data Collection with Row Sample Collector
We are pleased to announce the release of VIS version 26 SP1, the latest machine vision software update for our flagship platform. This service pack delivers two important enhancements to improve compliance and AI performance in the field.
What’s New in VIS Version 26 SP1
Privacy Blurring by Default
In line with GDPR and other privacy regulations, privacy blurring is now enabled by default for all Vislets and detection classes. Users can still adjust these settings per detection class when needed, but the default ensures that sensitive visual data is automatically protected in video logs.
Row Sample Collector (RSC)
The Row Sample Collector captures unmodified JPEG frames only when specific detections occur, up to 1,000 images per Vislet. These images are stored temporarily, zipped automatically, and made available for download through VIS logs — making it easier to collect targeted data from deployed systems without unnecessary storage use.
Why We Developed the Row Sample Collector
Our people detection model already achieves excellent accuracy as soon as it’s deployed. However, in safety-critical scenarios, “good” isn’t enough — we need the highest possible detection performance.
Our model is trained on a very large dataset, and adding thousands or even tens of thousands of random new images rarely improves results unless those images are carefully selected. RSC is designed to address this problem.
By collecting images from very specific detection instances in real deployments, RSC ensures that even a small number of samples can have a significant positive impact on accuracy. These targeted samples are then processed using our in-house testing and selection tools to identify exactly which images will most effectively improve our models.
In short, RSC is a precision tool that connects real-world operation with continuous, focused dataset improvement.
